On Monday of this week, The Commonwealth officially launched its ‘2023 Year of Youth’. The next 12 months will be giving centre stage to young people and youth-related issues such as climate change, access to education, skills, employment, and political, social and economic participation.
The Commonwealth agenda will encourage organisations to empower the 1.5 billion young people who make up 60% of the total population in the Commonwealth. In 2023, RLSS will seek opportunities to spotlight our youth and tap into the momentum that is being created by these initiatives. We’ll be focussing on our Youth Strategy and are proposing a Youth Advisory Group to support our Youth Trustee. We’re also planning some events to highlight RLSS Youth at the Commonwealth Lifesaving Championships, which are being held in Canada this September.
