Today, 18th December is International Migrants Day, and, on this day, we remember all those who have drowned using migration routes. We applaud the actions of those individuals and organisations whose work seeks to prevent such tragedies.
This day provides us with the opportunity to reflect on the Vancouver Declaration on Drowning Risk Reduction of Migrants and Refugees that was developed at the World Conference on Drowning Prevention in 2017 after the personal account of refugee drowning given at the Conference by Ms Tima Kurdi.
